U2-Apple secret

PRO BONO: What else do U2 and Apple have up their sleeves? You've probably heard by now about the TIME cover profile in which Bono (in addition to teasing follow-up album Songs of Experience and a 2015 tour) says the band has been working with Cupertino to develop “an audiovisual interactive format for music that can’t be pirated and will bring back album artwork in the most powerful way, where you can play with the lyrics and get behind the songs when you’re sitting on the subway with your iPad or on these big flat screens. You can see photography like you’ve never seen it before.” Speculation is already in overdrive about the TBA endeavor, with some anticipating a combination of HD content and niche social networking. Certainly recent hires Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre have long been agitating for an upgrade in the audio quality of Apple's offerings. Whatever it is, it sounds cool... as long as it's voluntary. Meanwhile, in case you missed it, you can check out our conversation about the band, the tech and more with manager Guy Oseary here. (9/18p)
