IVORAMA: Emeli Sande, Calvin Harris, Noel Gallagher and Gavin Rossdale were among the winners at the 58th annual Ivor Novello Awards. The prestigious U.K. songwriting prizes, presented by the British Association of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and performance-rights org PRS for Music, are among the most coveted by tunesmiths; Paul McCartney famously referred to an Ivor as "the greatest award ... the greatest thing to get for songwriters." Among the honors: Columbia's EDM hitmaker Harris was named Songwriter of the Year; Capitol's Sande and her "Next to Me" co-writers earned honors for Best Song Musically and Lyrically and the PRS for Music Most Performed Work; Bush frontman Rossdale earned the International Achievement trophy; veteran singer-songwriter and film composer Randy Newman got the PRS for Music International Award; Oasis' Noel Gallagher got an Ivor for Outstanding Song Collection; Canvasback/Atlantic's Alt-J won the Album Award; and Marc Almond received The Ivors Inspiration Award.
