X Factor ups ratings

X RATED: The X Factor tied Modern Family for first place in Wed. night's TV ratings and reached 8.1 million total viewers, according to preliminary tabulations. Just as vitally, the Fox reality-competition show saw a 27% spike in the coveted 18-49 demographic (among whom both series scored a 2.8 rating/8 share). Tonight's X, btw, features Alicia Keys. Another musically inclined series, the CBS drama Nashville, grabbed 5.6 million viewers. Also getting lots of folks tuning in were procedurals like CSI and Criminal Minds, because there's nothing more compelling than a bunch of actors in modish haircuts pretending to find stuff really fast on computers.
