Music from Olympic Opening Ceremony Released on Decca

OLYMPIC SOUNDS: The two-CD set Isles of Wonder—Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games is already available digitally at iTunes on Decca Records and will come out on all other formats Aug. 2. The music for Danny Boyle’s extravaganza salute to the U.K. was overseen by Music Director Rick Smith of Underworld, who provided two of the most stirring moments of the night with “And I Will Kiss,” which accompanied the sequence “Pandemonium”, celebrating the Industrial Revoltuion, and “Caliban’s Dream,” which announced the arrival of the Olympic Torch and the lighting of the cauldron. The album also features live performances from Emeli Sande, Dizzee Rascal, Arctic Moneys (including their cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together”), and Sir Paul McCartney’s “The End” followed by “Hey Jude.” The Chemical Brothers, Pet Shop Boys, High Contrast, U2 and David Bowie’s “Heroes” are all on the second disc.
