Zach Katz Joins BMG Chrysalis L.A.

KATZ PAJAMAS: Zach Katz, the man who discovered and developed hit producer/songwriter Jonathan J.R. Rotem, has been named EVP Creative for BMG Chrysalis, where he will oversee the L.A.-based staff, while attracting, developing and signing new talent and managing the current roster. He will report to N.A. President Creative & Marketing Laurent Hubert, while working with the creative executive team of Richard Blackstone, Venus Brown, Darrell Franklin and David Hirshland. He joins BMG from Beluga Heights, a company he founded in 2006 with J.R. and Tommy Rotem. "Zach is a highly respected player with a proven track record in signing and developing top talent. He will be a great asset to our team moving forward," said Hubert. Katz began his career in 1996 as a music attorney, turning his focus to music development in 2001 when he joined Groove Attack U.S. as the founding GM. He’s also worked closely with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, managing Rakim and securing endorsement deals with brands such as Reebok and Hennessey. He served as Co-CEO/Co-President, Co-A&R and Co-Executive Producer at Beluga Heights, which holds co-publishing rights for Evan Bogart, Jason Derulo and Sean Kingston, among others. The move follows the exit of creative execs Kenny MacPherson and Lionel Conway from the company. (7/11p)
