Shepard Fairey does the art for Young/Crazy Horse LP

SOUND & VISION: Shepard Fairey has created a painting for each of the 11 tracks on Neil Young & Crazy Horse's Americana. Along with commissioning Fairey to bring a visual element to the collection of traditional songs, Young also teamed up with the artist to create a 40-minute silent film to accompany the album. Fairey used stencil, collage and screen printing techniques to create the pieces. You can check out the paintings (one is shown above) in a slide slow on HuffingtonPost.com. In 2010, the artist painted Young's portrait for May Day, an exhibition in which Fairey paid tribute to his cultural and political heroes. (6/5a)
