Yahoo Music Exits

YAHOO CUTS BACK: Yahoo's reported 2,000+ layoffs include what is being called an “evisceration” of its Music department, including Head of Programming Artist/Label Relations John Lenac and Director of Programming Gina Juliano, according to Digital Music News. Other members of Lenac's staff are also understood to be packing and “cleaned out,” according to a separate source. Nevertheless, Yahoo Music continues to boast impressive levels of traffic, as monthly uniques push past 6 million with the 18-34 demographic alone, according to comScore. Yahoo Music also boasts such executive alumni as Ian Rogers, Jay Frank, David Goldberg and Jeff Bronikowski, who have all gone on to make their mark in the music and technology sphere. (4/9p)
