YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE RUNDOWN: Universal’s animated 3D movie Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax pulled in plenty of green eggs and ham this week, with a year-high box office take of $70 million, by far the largest of 2012, averaging nearly $19k at 3,729 theaters. WB’s Todd Phillips-produced teen party flick, Project X, also surpassed expectations, hauling in $20.7 million in 3.055 theaters for a per-screen average of $6,800. Relativity Media’s Navy SEALS saga, Act of Valor, raked in another $13.7 million in 3.053 theaters, bringing its two-week total to $45 million, while Universal’s Denzel Washington action flick Safe House added another $7.2 million to its four-week total of $108 million, with Lionsgate’s Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds racking up another $7 million to add to its total of $25.7m. The Weinstein Company’s Oscar-winning The Artist climbed back into the Top 10, adding almost $4 million, up 34% for a total of $37 million after nearly four months in theaters. (3/5p)
