MTV Back in the Day

BACK TO OLD SCHOOL: An early MTV promo for their 1982 New Year’s Eve that proves HITS Sr. Editor Roy Trakin, typecast as a reporter interviewing a monkey (so what else is new?), once had hair. Also featured: an impossibly young John Sykes and Rick Krim. Trakin claims to have written part of the script, which was then edited by Judy McGrath, though it’s certainly not on her resume. Also check out the chimp's handler, one Joan Myers, who knew a little something about handling animals. (2/8p)
