Google Acquires Rightsflow

RIGHTSFLOW TO GOOGLE: Google has acquired licensing company Rightsflow in a deal that looks to provide a new royalty backend processing company for YouTube content. Rightsflow President/CEO Patrick Sullivan commented: "We're pleased to now be taking a momentous step with the team at YouTube, which shares in our vision of solving the really challenging problem of copyright management.” The company launched in 2007 to represent and serve artists, record labels, distributors and online music services by simplifying the licensing process. “Our goals remains to enable the monetization of music and content consumption, to simplify the complexities surrounding copyright compliance, and to ensure that creators are paid for the use of their week,” said Sullivan. Now there’s a noble task. (12/12a)
