John Paul White quote about vinyl

TGIBTBF: Black Friday is also Record Store Day's "Back to Black" Friday, and a ton of high-profile artists have come up with limited-edition goodies for the occasion, with a heavy emphasis on vinyl. Iron and Wine will release an LP of a live performance recorded in August at the Village and originally broadcast on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are represented by a 40-gram red vinyl version of their 1991 landmark Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The Black Keys have created a 12-inch single of their new single “Lonely Boy” b/w "Run Right Back," another track from the upcoming El Camino. Another 12-inch, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Kiss My Amps, features six live cuts from last year's Mojo tour. And The Civil Wars will release the winter-themed cut "Tracks in the Snow" on 10-inch, and vinyl junkie John Paul White cites the desire for a physical product as a motivation for his preference. "I've never been able to transition into downloading records," White tells RollingStone.com. But he also cherishes the listening experience that vinyl offers. "The beautiful thing about vinyl is that it forces you to stop, slow down, put it on the player, sit and just listen to the music." (11/23a)
