Peter Hook Does Joy Division

HERE’S THE HOOK: New Order and Joy Division bassist Peter Hook & the Light are set to begin a North American tour in which they will perform the two Joy Division albums, Unknown Pleasures and Closer, in their entirety on separate nights. The famed post-punk band was set to tour America in May, 1980, when lead singer Ian Curtis committed suicide, an event captured in the 2007 Anton Corbijn-directed biopic Control. The trek kicks off next Tuesday (9/13) in N.Y. at the Gramercy Theater, where they’ll play Closer. They hit L.A. on Wednesday (9/14) for shows at The Music Box (Closer) and Friday (9/16) at the El Rey (Unknown Pleasures). Other dates include San Francisco, Denver, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Tijuana, Guadalajara and Mexico City. Blow is a pic of Hook and the band performing a never unreleased Joy Division track, “Pictures in My Mind,” from when they were called Warsaw. (9/8p)
