Facebook to unveil Music Dashboard

COUNTDOWN TO MUSIC DASHBOARD: The news that Facebook plans to launch a music platform by allowing open integration with music services (see 9/1 story) was anticipated by GigaOm two months ago, DigitalMediaWire points out. The GigaOm story (which we picked up) said Facebook’s plans include adding a new tab labeled Music to the left-hand column of users who have activated a partner music service—namely Spotify. That tab will open a comprehensive Music Dashboard with controls, music notifications, friends’ recommendations, popularity charts, etc. Cool. FB is expected to lay out the details of this still-unconfirmed initiative at its f8 conference on Sept. 22. (9/2a)
