Vampire Weekend cover photo settlement

COURTROOM KWASSA KWASSA: Vampire Weekend and XL Recordings have settled a lawsuit with Ann Kirsten Kennis, whose image appeared on the cover of last year’s Contra, pdnonline reported. Kennis had claimed that she didn’t give her consent to appear on the record sleeve, and that photographer Tod Brody had forged her model release when the Polaroid was taken back in the ’80s. Kennis has won an undisclosed settlement and the case was dismissed by a federal court in L.A. The band and XL are currently in the process of suing Brody for misrepresenting his rights to the photo, which he licensed to them for $5,000. The photographer is now representing himself in the case after his attorneys dropped out in June, mainly due to his failure to pay his legal bills. (8/16a)
