Bainwol to shill for carmakers?

MITCH GETTING A NEW RIDE? Mitch Bainwol will soon be lobbying on behalf of the auto industry, CNET reported on Friday. The RIAA chief is in advanced talks to head up trade org the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. Though he hasn’t yet accepted the post, the talks have progressed far enough to prompt Bainwol to inform the RIAA's board that he could depart soon, according to sources. The news comes on the heels of the long-derided Bainwol’s role in getting the ISPs to agree to discourage their subscribers from pirating of music and movies. (8/1a)
