Apple close to cloud launch?

APPLE-SHAPED CLOUD: Is that long-rumored iTunes streaming service close to becoming a reality? According to All Things D’s Peter Kafka, Apple has nailed down licensing deals with at least two of the Big Four in the last two months, is "actively seeking licenses" for a new cloud-based music locker service and is willing to pony up for the privilege. One source claimed Apple VP Eddy Cue will be in New York on Friday in an attempt to solidify remaining deals. "They’ve been very aggressive and thoughtful about it,” a record exec told Kafka. “It feels like they want to go pretty soon.” (4/22a)
