Fountains of Wayne belated follow-up

LIFE AFTER “STACY’S MOM”: It’s taken four years, but Fountains of Wayne have finally completed the follow-up to Traffic and Weather, the best 2007 album you never heard—which is presumably why the brainy and melodic band is no longer on Virgin/EMI. Sky Full of Holes, the band’s sixth album, will be released in the U.S. on Aug. 2 via Yep Roc. Formed in 1996 by Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger, FOW received a belated Best New Artist Grammy nod, in 2003, after scoring a hit with their third album, Welcome Interstate Managers, and the single “Stacy’s Mom.” (4/20a)
