QUEUING UP OUTSIDE THE PUB: EMI Music Publishing isn’t the only British-owned pubbery in the sights of the three acquisitive companies named in this morning’s lead story. KKR/BMG Rights Management, Sony/ATV and Imagem are also believed to be examining the potential for a deal for Chrysalis , according to the Financial Times. “Really good catalogs don’t come around that often,” said one industry insider. “That’s what makes this deal interesting—we’ve had a lot of consolidation in the last year, but it’s rarer to see something of this scale.” Said one banker, “It’s certainly reasonable to assume that BMG Rights would be the most aggressive and capable of moving in a short period of time.” Another analyst added, “It would be a sensible deal for them because Chrysalis is a great brand name and it would add some luster to their business.” (11/8a)
