Abdul takes on former show

IDOL’S PAST VS. IDOL’S FUTURE: Paula Abdul’s dance-competition series on CBS will go head-to-head with American Idol, apparently in hopes of luring a sizable bloc of disenchanted Idol fans as the Fox series undergoes a revamping. Abdul's Live to Dance will debut in a two-hour special on Tuesday, Jan. 4, and then move to a one-hour version on Wednesdays between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. the next night. That’s roughly the same time slot as Idol’s “results” show, which is scheduled to air between 8:30 and 9, starting some time in January. (10/29a)
