BOIES WATCH: David Boies, who will represent Terra Firma and Guy Hands in their case against Citibank, which starts Oct. 18, is one of the most prominent attorneys in the country. The Yale Law School grad famously repped Al Gore in his post-electoral dispute with George Bush, Napster in RIAA's suit against it for copyright infringement as well as the Justice Department in its anti-trust action against Microsoft. More recently, he’s Jamie McCourt’s lawyer in her divorce trial with husband Frank over ownership of the L.A. Dodgers. Will he be able to prove that Citibank knowingly misled Terra Firma into thinking there were other bidders for EMI Music, thereby driving up the price and forcing them to borrow even more money, coincidentally enough, from Citi? Many observers believe that Warner Music Group would have made a similar deal with Citi to acquire EMI at the time, which could potentially weaken Terra Firma’s case. (10/8p)
