VIDEO TRUCE: According to MTV, UMG has given the video network rights to use its artists’ clips online, but only in conjunction with this year’s VMAs, being held in L.A. Sept. 12. As has been reported, the two media giants are currently at odds over MTV’s use of its content online through Vevo, the syndication arm UMG co-owns with Sony Music and the Abu Dhabi Media Company. "They did grant us digital rights," MTV Networks SVP Jeannie Kedas told Ad Age. "[I] think they recognize the value of MTV's VMAs for their artists." Though MTV.com had been prohibited from running UMG videos, the temporary peace agreement allows the viewing of clips for a select group of nominees, only on their voting page through the end of the balloting Aug. 24.
