Grainge to be based in L.A.

WELCOME TO L.A.: Look for Lucian Grainge to assume his new duties as co-CEO of UMG with Doug Morris next week. But here’s a shocker: Grainge will be splitting his time between New York and Los Angeles, but will be based in L.A. Insiders say the decision to work out of SoCal will allow the very digitally progressive Grainge more direct interaction with UMG’s tech partners and the Silicon Alley community as well as easier contact with the bulk of UMG’s commercial business, which is L.A.-based, and a number of new burgeoning digital territories such as the Far East.
