NASHVILLE PLATT

At Warner/Chappell’s recent A&R conference in Nashville, CEO Jon Platt, Chairman and Warner Bros. Records ruler Cameron Strang, Nashville EVP Ben Vaughn and a gaggle of tunesmiths gather for a unique trust exercise in which one writer falls backward while singing a verse, hopefully to be caught by another writer who’s humming a middle eight. Seen at a BMI-hosted event at The Country Music Hall of Fame are (l-r) Platt, songwriters Nicolle Galyon, Lee Miller and Liz Rose, Strang, Vaughn, songwriter Tim Nichols and BMI’s Jody Williams.

The gathering also saw Galyon, Miller, Rose and Nichols in a “writers round,” as well as an ASCAP-sponsored dinner at Prima.

Platt praised his Vaughn and his Nashville team, noting the confab “allowed us to share ideas, learn from one another, and spawn some potential collaborations,” adding “everyone brought their ‘A’ game and we’re a stronger unit for it.”

Vaughn called it “a real honor” to host the conference, hailing Platt and “the sheer power” of meeting the global team in one place. Speaking of which, W/C Sweden Managing Director Lars Karlsson proudly unveiled a new country song called “There Is a Tear in My Aquavit.”
