YOUR WEEKEND
BOX OFFICE

It was a memorable weekend for The Revenant, which stormed the box office and won the Golden Globe for Best Drama. In its third week out (and first in wide release), the Leonardo DiCaprio-driven nailbiter charged from #23-2 as it expanded from just four theaters to 3,375. It also now ranks in the Top 5 January openings of all time, joining American Sniper, Ride Along, Cloverfield and Taken 3.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, meanwhile remains the top dog for a fourth week, earning another $42m and bringing its domestic gross to $812m. That being said, it's the first film to ever surpass $800m domestically. J.J. Abrams' blockbuster finally saw its China release this Saturday, scoring $53m in two days. Its worldwide total is now over $1.7b, making it the third highest grossing worldwide release in history behind Avatar and Titanic.
