WORLD DOMINATION FOR SYCO ENTERTAINMENT

The Voice exec Tim van Rongen has moved to head up Simon Cowell’s SYCO Entertainment as SVP, tasked with broadening Cowell’s TV business worldwide, exploring new format commission opportunities and evolving established formats like The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Based in Los Angeles and London, Rongen will start his new job in March. He was most recently Executive Producer of Talpa Global BV, where he worked on The Voice. He also co-created one of the world’s first music shows, Starmaker (AKA Fame Academy and Star Academy), has experience as an artist manager, held a three-year stint as Head of New Business & E Media for Sony BMG during 2007-2010 and worked for Live Nation’s Mojo Concerts.

“I am delighted that Tim is joining us at Syco Entertainment," announced Cowell. "Our aim is always to attract world class talent to the company—and that’s what Tim most certainly is.”

"With the rapidly changing media landscape there are more creative opportunities than ever before and I am looking forward to working with Simon and the team on the development of fresh ideas that go hand-in-hand with today’s technology and resonate with a broad viewing audience," added Rongen. "I can’t wait to bring more of the Syco flavour to entertainment platforms all over the world.”

Intriguing news indeed.
