CBS’s broadcast of The ACM Awards attracted 11.18m viewers Sunday night (4/3), a dip from last year’s 50th anniversary show that had an audience of 16m, a 15-year high for the telecast. It was still—by a considerable margin—the most-watched show of the night on the broadcast networks.
In the 18-49 demographic, 2.8m viewers watched the 51st edition of Academy of Country Music Awards, down from 4.6m in 2015. The ratings are Nielsen’s fast nationals, which tend to be different than final numbers for live shows. Ratings for iHeartRadio Music Awards are expected later in the day.
The show also proved a driver for key artists' sales, including Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean and Tim McGraw, among others; stay tuned for updates on that front.
