GARDEN STATE GETS A GRAMMY MUSEUM

Once named the world’s most unfriendly city (by Conde Nast Traveler), Newark, New Jersey will soon be known for something more than its airport and proximity to New York City: Grammy Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli announced Tuesday that a Grammy Museum annex will open at the Prudential Center in the fall.

“As a New Jersey native who’s grown up with artists like Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen, both of whom put this state on the map, I am thrilled to partner with the Prudential Center to bring the Grammy Museum Experience to Newark,” Santelli said. “This is where my love for music started, and this is also where my career started, so I’m most looking forward to the opportunities this will afford the young people and students of New Jersey.”

The new facility, to be called the Grammy Museum Experience Prudential Center, will encompass 8.000 square feet of exhibit space, and include a plethora of interactive activities, an education center and exhibits focusing on New Jersey’s musical heritage. The long list of Garden State natives includes not only Sinatra and Springsteen, but Jon Bon Jovi and Frankie Valli. One question remains: Will the Jonas Brothers get their own wing?
