Bunt and Dungan: Pondering how to turn new Nashville label into a ride.

DISNEY GOES COUNTRY WITH
NEW UMG LABEL

Mickey’s heading to Nashville. Ken Bunt and Mike Dungan are overseeing the creation of a country music label, Buena Vista Records, that will be run jointly by Disney Music Group and Universal Music Group Nashville.

The first signing is CB30, a brother duo of 15-year-old Christian and 13-year-old Brody, whose “Marina” has already received airplay at Radio Disney Country. The label plans to sign country artists as well as create and develop country music genre projects on a worldwide basis.

“We are thrilled to stand next to this iconic brand, with such a long and storied history of success, but the real bonus has come in the friendship we have developed with Ken Bunt and his incredible team of first class professionals,” UMG Nashville Chairman/CEO Dungan said.

“We are proud to be launching this new label with Mike Dungan and the incredibly successful Universal Music Nashville team,” DMG President Bunt said. We are looking forward to launching some new careers with our combined expertise and platforms.”

To seal the deal, Dungan gave Bunt a Stetson and Ken handed Mike a pair of mouse ears.
