STRINGER TO RECEIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY TRUSTS AWARD

Rob Stringer will be honored with the U.K.'s prestigious Music Industry Trusts Award in November. The award commemorates the Sony Music chief's outstanding contribution to the music industry; it'll be conferred at a gala benefiting The BRIT Trust and Nordoff Robbins.

Prior honorees include Sir George Martin, Sir Lucian Grainge CBE, Sir Elton John, Simon Cowell and Annie Lennox OBE.

"Rob’s extraordinary perception of how talent and artistry develops has brought him to the pinnacle of achievement in the music business," declared MITS Award Committee Chairman David Munns OBE. "He is acknowledged and admired by colleagues, peers and competitors alike, while artists around the world value his integrity and support. This is what we aim to recognize every year with the Music Industry Trusts Award, and there’s no one more deserving of the honor than Rob."

Remarked Stringer: "With its longstanding history in recognizing British talent in the music industry, and continued support of two brilliant charities, The BRIT Trust and Nordoff Robbins, it is a true honor to join such illustrious company and be given the MITS Award this year."

Stringer, as you well know, stepped into the top Sony post in April and previously served for nearly a decade as chief of Columbia. He began his career at CBS Records in 1985, became MD of Epic in 1992 and stepped up to Chairman of Sony Music U.K. in 2001.

He received Music Week's "Strat" Award in 2014 and was named UJA's Music Visionary of the Year in 2013. He's had a hankering for gefilte fish ever since.
