TELETHON TO AID TEXAS, FLORIDA STORM VICTIMS

Tuesday’s Hand in Hand Hurricane benefit telethon has made arrangements to expand its assistance efforts to those affected by Irma, which ripped through Florida Sunday and continues to drive north toward Georgia and Alabama.

Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, George Strait, George Clooney and Julia Roberts are among the leaders of a telethon for Hurricane Harvey victims that will air Tuesday on CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox and CMT at 8pm. The show will also stream on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

Confirmed participants include Bun B, J Balvin, Justin Bieber, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Drake, Hilary Duff, Jamie Foxx, Faith Hill, Joe Jonas, Tim McGraw, Questlove, Kelly Rowland, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Barbra Streisand.

Strait will be performing at his benefit concert from San Antonio’s Majestic Theatre featuring performances from Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton.

The telethon will benefit United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Feeding Texas, Direct Relief and the Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief.

Irma relief efforts are just getting under way with Royal Caribbean pledging up to $1m in matching donations. Leaders throughout Europe are pledging assistance for island nations decimated by the hurricane. NBC has information on how to help.
