SONGS OF HOPE: KORNER OFFICE EDITION

If you want to bump into most of the people you know from the music business in one night, the annual City of Hope Songs of Hope event gives you pretty good bang for buck, while raising funds to fight cancer. This year’s extravaganza, which took place at Alex Da Kid’s lavish KIDinaKORNER HQ in Sherman Oaks on 9/28, saw Clive Davis present Max Martin with the Legend in Songwriting Award, while hit songwriter/producer Jack Antonoff, Disruptor/Columbia superstars The Chainsmokers and esteemed composer Hans Zimmer also collected honors, as did immunologist Saul Priceman.

The evening was co-hosted by UMPG’s Evan Lamberg, attorney Doug Davis, EA’s Steve Schnur and Spirit Music Publishing’s David Renzer.

Jimmy Jam served as host for the poolside festivities. Presenters included Sony/ATV chieftain Marty Bandier (handing his Vanguard Award to Antonoff, who said he hoped to cop Marty’s look one day), Lamberg, Schnur (handing Composer of the Century to Zimmer) and Pandora’s Adam Parness (awarding The Chainsmokers).

The lavish evening raised $400k, while an additional $1m contribution was also announced to support Car-T Cell research by Zach and Barbara Horowitz, Jody Horowitz-Marsh and Gary Marsh with the Meringoff Family Foundation, in tribute to the legacy of Ben and Beverly Horowitz.

Hope springs eternal: David Renzer, Max Martin, The Chainsmokers, Steve Schnur, Hans Zimmer, Clive Davis, Doug Davis and Evan Lamberg brace themselves for this caption.

Jimmy Jam suggests Recording Academy chief Neil Portnow adopt the moniker "Neil Da Adult."

Sony/ATV VP, Creative Tyler Childs, who's also Jack Antonoff's manager, joins pubco SVP and Head of West Coast A&R Jen Knoepfle in constructing a makeshift humidor for SATV chief Bandier and disciple Antonoff.
