SONY CELEBRATES BODYGUARD

The Bodyguard, starring Whitney Houston in her film debut, was released a quarter century ago and to celebrate, Sony’s Legacy Recordings, in partnership with The Whitney Houston Estate, will release Whitney Houston— I Wish You Love: More From The Bodyguard on 11/17, the same day the soundtrack was released in 1992.

The album collects songs from The Bodyguard film and The Bodyguard Tour that ran 1993 to1995. Warner Brothers Home Entertainment will release a 25th anniversary edition of the film on 10/31.

The collection will include film and live versions of “I Will Always Love” You,” “I Have Nothing” and “Queen of The Night” plus an alternate mix of “I Will Always Love You,” an a cappella version of “Jesus Loves Me,” and a live version of the rarely performed “Run to You.”

The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album, released by Arista, was the first album to sell more than 1m copies in a single week in the SoundScan era. It won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and has sold more than 45m copies worldwide.
