Lil Wayne was busy releasing music over the holidays, fulfiling a year-long promise by dropping the new mixtape Dedication 6 on Christmas Day.
The original set had 15 tracks hosted by DJ Drama, with features like Nicki Minaj and other Young Money roster artists with Weezy rapping over popular beats by Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage and more.
A few days later, he released "Family Affair" (a remix on the Jay Z 4:44 track) just a few hours after Jay dropped the video for his own song, which reunited Tunechi with his protege Drake, who then proceeded in his lengthy verse to discuss everything from Trump to Diddy's Carolina Panthers bid and finally, flipping the Kendrick Lamar shout "get Top on the phone," to "get Larry Jackson on the phone" because "I need some ownership if we pressing go."
Since Drizzy's well known for telling us the real deal in his rhymes, perhaps this is a signal it's renegotiation time for him at Apple Music. The last check was nearly $20m. Sounds like this time around he wants a piece.
