Top Dawg is teaming with Kendrick Lamar, whose generosity in giving back to his home community has been ongoing since he rose to fame, to host a series of screenings of Black Panther for the youth of Watts.
Kendrick and Top are closely connected to the movie, which opens Friday, 2/16, having executive-produced the film’s star-studded soundtrack (on TDE/Aftermath/Interscope), which will debut at #1 the same day.
The audiences for Saturday’s screenings—five in all in three area theaters—will be composed of kids from the projects, with the hope that this critically acclaimed film, as uplifting as it is entertaining, will be a source of hope and inspiration for the close to a thousand young moviegoers.
