UMG AMPS UP SCRIPTED FILM/TV

Universal Music Group’s film and television division has brought in Daniel Inkeles from sister company Studiocanal to help accelerate scripted feature film and television projects.

As Polygram’s Vice President, Scripted Film & Television, Inkeles will report to David Blackman, UMG’s Head of Film & Television Development and Production.

“We have only scratched the surface of what’s possible and with Daniel’s help, we will be able to expand our slate of scripted and animated features,” Blackman said.

Inkeles will be based at UMG’s global headquarters in Santa Monica, and will work with the company’s labels and Universal Music Publishing Group, as well as media companies, digital partners and film and television studios and production companies.

Inkeles was Vice President of International Production and Development at Studiocanal and worked as a development executive at Sony Pictures Animation and in franchise development at DreamWorks Animation.

To date, Polygram has only announced documentary projects, among them films on Motown, Luciano Pavarotti and The Velvet Underground.
