U.K. CHARTS: A GRANDE ENTRANCE
Ariana Grande has rocketed straight to #1 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart with “thank u, next” (Island) selling 73k combined sales across six days. Over on albums, The Prodigy are at the top with No Tourists (BMG) on 24k.
Despite starting at #33 midweek, “thank u, next” has quickly risen to the top by a long shot—it’s more than 26k combined sales ahead of closest competitor, “Shallow” (Polydor) by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. Those 73k sales include 6.7m streams; it’s Grande’s third U.K. #1 single and first ever solo chart-topper.
Further down, Jess Glynne jumps 11 places to #7 with “Thursday” (Atlantic) and “Without Me” (Virgin EMI) by Halsey zooms 13 places to #9—her highest charting single as a lead artist.
Clean Bandit’s new single “Baby” (Atlantic) f/Marina & The Diamonds and Luis Fonsi debuts at #33, ahead of Benny Blanco & Calvin Harris’ “I Found You” (Virgin EMI) at #35.
On the Official Albums Chart, The Prodigy have their seventh U.K. #1 with No Tourists. The second highest new entry is Barbra Streisand with Walls (Sony Music CG) at #6. Bob Dylan's More Blood More Track—Bootleg Series Vol. 14 (Columbia) lands at #9, earning him a 38th Top 10 record.
Grande's Sweetener is up five places to #10, and two more records debut inside the Top 20: Sheridan Smith's A Northern Soul (Warner Music) at #15 and Not All Heroes Wear Capes by Metro Boomin (Republic) opens at #16.
