Spotify just posted a photo with an emoji waving to Rihanna, along with a Story on Instagram teasing "where have you been?," reigniting speculation that Rihanna season is upon us. As we've been chronicling all year long, RiRi has fans and the biz waiting for new music to drop via Roc Nation/Westbury Road.

Another pop giant, Ariana Grande, confirmed this morning that a new video for an upcoming single, "Boyfriend," will arrive Friday. The heavy-streaming, YouTube-record-breaking diva hasn't dropped new material since February's thank u, next (Republic), which also broke records on DSPs at the time.

Could either of these superstars be the contender that finally takes down Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" atop the Hot 100? Do Nas and Ron Perry have another remix in the vault? Stay tuned.
