AEG HAS A PLAN

AEG has come up with a game plan to deal with ticket refunds and artist deals for its one-off shows in clubs, theaters and amphitheaters scheduled for 2020.

The best news is for acts that sold well when their shows were announced: For any show with between 90% and 100% tickets sold, the guarantee stays intact. Otherwise, AEG will be looking to renegotiate deals, especially if shows are close to break-even (the guarantee will drop by 25% to 50% depending on market conditions) or local authorities reduce venue capacity.

The company is also dealing with the hot button topic of refunds by beginning to make money back offers on 5/1 for postponed shows that have new dates. Refund requests will be handled in a 30-day period, and for any shows already postponed, the refund period begins 5/1 and runs until 5/30.

Finally, AEG is putting the brakes on album bundles for shows not yet on sale.

Considered an “outline” for AEG’s approach—and forwarded to agents from AEG Presents President, North America, Rick Mueller—it does not apply to national tours handled by AEG or its affiliates.
