NEAR-DEADLOCK IN TOP 100 WEEKLY MARKETSHARE

Republic and IGA shared the top spot in total-activity marketshare for the week ending 10/29 with 17% apiece, but Team Lipman led the way in SEA with 20% behind Pop Smoke and Ariana Grande, who released a new single. Columbia and Sony Music Nashville, meanwhile, experienced big week-over-week gains, thanks primarily to big album debuts from Bruce Springsteen and Luke Combs, respectively.

Not surprisingly, given this 1-2 finish, UMG had a massive week, snagging more than half of the SEA-marketshare pie.

So far, at least, no label has demanded a recount—but it's still early.

Our Top 100 Weekly Marketshare Chart (top), which is determined by the number and placement of each label’s releases in that week’s Top 100, shows the relative performance of the major labels by percentage of the top tier of the overall business.

Simply and clearly, the new chart reveals the labels making the biggest impact during that particular seven-day period—meaning the order of battle could differ dramatically from one week to the next, particularly when superstar releases hit the market.

The blue vertical bars in the front row of the 3D chart represent total activity, while the orange bars behind them reflect streaming-equivalent albums. In short, it’s a vivid snapshot of that week’s competition for the ears of America.
