REDEEMING VALENTINE'S DAY
WITH PTX

Let's face it: Not everyone enjoys Valentine's Day. For a lot of folks, it's either an unpleasant reminder of the difficulty of finding love or an unwelcome obligation to buy flowers and/or chocolate, pen gooey messages and arrange romantic surprises.

Even so, lovers of love have something to celebrate in 2021: The Lucky Ones, a new album by RCA's Pentatonix, which explores the joy and pain of romance with sweet melodies—and, of course, blooming harmonies. Lead single "Coffee in Bed" captures the beauty of everyday intimacy in a way that's particularly resonant during quarantine.

This set of originals by the a cappella marvels contains plenty of other heartwarming pop tunes, but the one that's stuck on repeat around here is "Love Me When I Don't," a gorgeous tribute to the power of love to lift us up when we can't do it ourselves. "Side" and "Exit Signs," among other cuts, also memorably explore the ups and downs of commitment.

So if you're struggling to find a way to honor your beloved this Covid-benighted Valentine's Day, we suggest digging into this collection like a box of chocolate hearts.

And if you're seeking a Feb. 14 gift to express your love for manager Jonathan Kalter, a fine single malt is always in good taste.
