BABS HITS THE VAULT

Barbra Streisand has returned to her vaults for 10 unreleased recordings, which Columbia/Legacy will issue 8/6 as Release Me 2.

The sequel to 2012’s Release Me, the set features songs written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Barry Gibb, Randy Newman, Carole King, Paul Williams and others. Only the duet with Willie Nelson, "I'd Want It To Be You," recorded for 2014’s Partners, was previously released.

Streisand also duets with Kermit the Frog, on "Rainbow Connection," and Barry Gibb, on "If Only You Were Mine." The earliest recording comes from 1962—Harold Arlen and E.Y. "Yip" Harburg’s "Right As the Rain."

Said Streisand, “Working on this second volume of Release Me has been a lovely walk down memory lane… a chance to revisit, and in some cases add a finishing instrumental touch to, songs that still resonate for me. I'm particularly struck by the ongoing relevance of 'Be Aware' and 'One Day,' which still speak to our collective sense of humanity."
