FOLGER'S JINGLE ON THE AUCTION BLOCK

Wondering what’s brewing at Royalty Exchange? Its latest auction (just in time for National Coffee Day, 9/29) is for a commercial jingle that’s made an earworm of itself for nearly 40 years.

Bidders interested in scooping up Folgers’ “The Best Part of Wakin’ Up” have pushed the price for performance royalties to more than $70k as the auction approaches its final day. The buyer, heavily caffeinated we assume, will get paid every time the jingle is used in an advertisement on TV, radio, the Internet or anywhere else.

The Leslie Pearl-penned composition, which premiered in 1984, has earned nearly $12k from performances in the last year alone.

Place a bid here.

How are you celebrating National Coffee Day? We're getting fuckin' wired.
