NYC WINTER JAZZFEST GOES VIRTUAL

New York’s Winter Jazzfest is going virtual for its 18th season, 1/14-22. More than 30 groups and 150 musicians will perform from Los Angeles, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans, among other locales.

Artist-in-residence Angel Bat Dawid will debut her Afro-Town Topics: A Mythological Revue from her hometown of Chicago on 1/17. Additional performances exclusive to Winter Jazzfest will include Maurice “Mobetta” Brown with Anderson .Paak on 1/21 and Makaya McCraven on 1/22.

“In line with this year’s theme, 'The Feel Good,’ we asked many of the musicians to perform ‘Feel Good’ music. Especially now, during these challenging times when we cannot all be together, we need the valuable musical medicine these musicians provide,” said NYCWJF founder Brice Rosenbloom. “We are so grateful to all of the artists for moving mountains to make this happen.”

All performances can be accessed via WinterJazzfest.com and on YouTube and Facebook. Select performances will be available on Qwest.TV and WBGO channels.
