SWAVAY GETS RICO

Def Jam has announced the signing of Atlanta rapper SwaVay via Giant Music. The artist’s single and video “Jugg” have dropped ahead of forthcoming full-length Almetha’s Son.

The young rapper shared a Grammy nom in 2019 with DJ Khalil, Cordae, Denzel Curry, and Trevor Rich for his contribution to “Elevate” from the Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse ST; he’s since become a serious contender among devotees of trap.

As for Giant Music, which inked a distrib deal for SwaVay with Def Jam, is more Giant news on the horizon? Could we see even see a return of the legendary Giant Records? As our Magic 8 Ball likes to say, ask again later. All we know is, chic Azoffian gear—like that worn by Full Stop’s Shawn Holiday in this pic—is fetching large sums on the secondary market.
