MONARCH DEBUT A HIT FOR FOX

The partnership of football and country music again proves fertile as the Trace Adkins-starring Monarch provides Fox its most-watched scripted fall debut in three years.

While the Fox NFL lead-in helped, the show also had considerable competition in the Cowboys-Buccaneers game on Sunday Night Football.

With a viewership of 3.8m on Sunday night, Monarch outperformed the next-highest-rated drama debut of 2022, HBO’s House of the Dragon, by 33%, and an encore showing on Wednesday, plus DVR/VOD viewing, may substantially increase the number of total viewers.

The second episode of the Jason Owen-executive produced series will air 9/20 in its regular 9pm Tuesday time slot, in which football will not be a factor. Martina McBride appeared in the pilot; expect to see Little Big Town, Tanya Tucker and other country stars in future episodes.
