FOR GOODNESS' SYKES: KACF SETS FUNDRAISING RECORD

The Kristen Ann Carr Fund has announced that its 2022 fundraiser generated $1.35m for sarcoma research and treatment, a record for the organization. Titled "A Night to Remember," the gala, which honored iHeart President of Entertainment Enterprises and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame boss John Sykes, included a performance by John Mellencamp and an auction. You may recall that we covered the October event, at NYC's Tribeca Grill, in this fabulous story.

More than $500k was raised through the auction. A Telecaster played by longtime supporter Bruce Springsteen alone fetched $41k.

"The Kristen Ann Carr Fund has made tangible progress in research into and the treatment of sarcoma through its partnership with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and I couldn’t be more honored to play a part in that important legacy,” said Sykes. “Introducing my friend John Mellencamp to perform in such an intimate setting was icing on the cake.”

Organization namesake Kristin Ann Carr, daughter of Jon Landau Management's Barbara Carr and journalist Dave Marsh, died at 21 in 1993 following a battle with sarcoma.

Now entering its 30th year, the Kristen Ann Carr Fund has allowed more than 35 doctors to study sarcoma cancers at Sloan-Kettering. The $1.35m it raised in October will go toward the $10m required to fund The Kristen Ann Carr Center for Sarcoma Treatment & Research.
