AIR GETS A LIFT FROM '80s CLASSICS

Legacy Recordings, Sony’s catalog division, has contributed several '80s classics to soundtrack the new Amazon Studios film AIR, about the development of the Air Jordan brand. AIR (Amazon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) became available digitally 4/5 to coincide with the film’s global release. CD, period-appropriate cassette and vinyl versions are scheduled to arrive on 6/2, 6/23 and 9/15, respectively. Pre-orders are available here.

The soundtrack is a time capsule of '80s chestnuts, with more than a dozen favorites from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, REO Speedwagon, The Clash, Dire Straits, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five and Run-DMC. The songs were curated by music supervisor Andrea von Foerster, whose credits include M3GAN and Yellowstone.

AIR reunites Ben Affleck with Good Will Hunting co-star Matt Damon to tell the story of Nike’s groundbreaking partnership with NBA legend Michael Jordan. The cast includes Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker and Viola Davis.

Amazon Studios will distribute AIR exclusively in theaters, with Warner Bros. Pictures handling international as part of its distribution pact with Amazon’s MGM.
