BONO SURRENDERS

Bono kicked off the spring 2023 run of his device-free Stories of Surrender shows over the weekend in support of his bestselling memoir, SURRENDER: 40 Songs, One Story.

During the celebratory evening at NYC's Beacon Theater, the U2 singer was joined by musicians Gemma Doherty (harp, keyboard, vocals) and Kate Ellis (cello, keyboard, vocals), as well as Musical Director Jacknife Lee for “words, music and some mischief.”

SURRENDER: 40 Songs, One Story arrived last November. The subtitle refers to the book’s 40 chapters, each named after a U2 song. Bono also created 40 original drawings, which were used throughout the book.

Born Paul David Hewson in Dublin, Bono met The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton, and U2 was formed in 1978. The band has released 14 studio albums and won numerous awards, including 22 Grammys and the Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience award. In September, MSG Sphere at the Venetian will open its doors with a string of shows called U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere. The special run marks the Full Stop-repped outfit's first live outing in four years and follows the massive success of The Joshua Tree Tours and 2018's eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE indoor tour.

Meanwhile, the Beacon Theater will host Bono's Stories of Surrender for several more nights, beginning Monday (4/17) and wrapping up on 5/8. Find what you're looking for here.
