GIDDYUP: NEIL YOUNG, CRAZY HORSE RETURN TO THE ROAD

Neil Young and Crazy Horse are firing back up for their first proper tour since 2014, a Live Nation-promoted jaunt beginning 4/24 in San Diego and concluding 5/23 in Chicago.

They'll also release a live album dubbed FU##IN’ UP 4/20 as part of Record Store Day and on all formats six days later. The nine-track Reprise collection appears to have been recorded at Neil and company's fall 2023 shows at the Roxy in Los Angeles.

"In the spirit it's offered… made this for the Horse lovers,” said Young, 78. "I can’t stop it. The horse is runnin'. What a ride we have. I don’t want to mess with the vibe. I am so happy to have this to share."

Highlights of the Love Earth Tour, named after the musicians' 2022 studio album and booked by longtime agent Marsha Vlasic at IAG, include Forest Hills Tennis Stadium just outside New York City on 5/14 and Budweiser Stage in Young's Toronto hometown on 5/20. Young is also confirmed sans Crazy Horse for September's Bourbon & Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

Crazy Horse's lineup for the run hasn't been announced but will likely not include guitarist Nils Lofgren, who has commitments with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band this spring. Willie Nelson's son Micah played with the band last year, joining Lofgren and the rhythm section of drummer Ralph Molina and bassist Billy Talbot—the latter two of whom have played with Young on and off since the late 1960s.

Subscribers to the Neil Young Archives have first crack at the mobile-only tickets, which will go on sale to the general public on 2/16. Head here for the tour itinerary and remember, as Neil always says: Only love can break your heart.
