LUKE COMBS' "WILD" RIDE AT COUNTRY RADIO

Luke Combs landed his 18th #1 hit at Country radio this week. The song is “Where the Wild Things Are,” from 2023's Gettin’ Old. It follows the River House/Columbia Nashville artist's previous chart-topper, "Different 'Round Here" f/Riley Green, marking the first time this century an artist has supplanted himself at #1 at Country.

Willie Nelson accomplished the feat twice—once in 1976 and again in 1982—but that was (so) last century. In May 1982, Nelson's duet with Waylon Jennings, “Just To Satisfy You,” ousted Shotgun Willie's “Always on My Mind." We often wish we could supplant ourselves.
